    That's Wild

    • One of the biggest things that Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin has to do this summer is sign goaltender Filip Gustavsson to a new contract. The restricted free agent just had a terrific season, so keeping him is obviously in the team's best interest. According to recent reports, it is now a matter if "when" not "if" the Wild will be able to sign him. [The Athletic]
    • The 2023 NHL Entry Draft is coming up later this month, so, what are the Wild's options to move around the draft board? [Hockey Wilderness]

    Off the trail...

    • We got our first taste of the offseason on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Flyers traded long-time defenseman Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a haul of players, a prospect, and picks. [Broad Street Hockey]
    • And there are more trade rumors! The Ottawa Senators appear to be actively shopping RFA winger Alex DeBrincat just one year after acquiring him from the Chicago Blackhawks. It's all about a contract and if the Sens can't sign him, they might as well trade him. So what teams are a good fit? [Yahoo Sports]

Poor Ottawa, they just can't keep players there. You'd think there'd be more national pride in playing in their capitol city, but maybe not.

Is it the area or is it something else like ownership that has people wanting to leave?

When it comes to resigning Goose2, I always thought it was a matter of when not if. You just don't let a young goalie like that go, you resign him. Goose2 is part of the "after cap hell" plan. Let's just hope he can keep progressing.

Has anyone heard anything about a Goligoski retirement? Seems to me, based upon what we saw last season, he's cooked. It would be nice to have that $2m back.

I have to admit I didn't think it was likely they could/would sign Gus.  I am happy to be wrong here.  I'll be very curious as to the amount he signs for.

Russo said last week, they would willing to pay him 3.5 mill per year. So I would imagine it won't be any less than that.  To much for the short window we've seen him play well.
