  • Wild Never Received Adequate Trade Offers for Rossi

Marco Rossi's name will not leave the rumor mill but it sure seems like his perceived value around the league is lower than expected. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman on Monday's episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, the Minnesota Wild never received any trade offers for the 23-year-old center that was deemed adequate enough to give him up.

General manager Bill Guerin has been adamant that he will not make the Wild's current roster worse in a Rossi trade, and if teams are solely offering trade packages full of draft picks or far-off prospects, that doesn't fit the bill.

Now the Wild are most likely going to re-sign Rossi to some sort of medium-term deal that takes him through the rest of his team control at a reasonable price. And then, of course, he'll go off and score triple digits just because.

    • The Wild signed a whole lot of players for organizational depth. One of those is long-time NHLer Nicolas Aube-Kubel, who has jumped around from team to team for a while now, but always finds himself playing a couple games in the NHL most seasons. [The Hockey News]

    • The Pittsburgh Penguins seem to be the only team in the whole NHL that is fine with selling off roster players for future assets. Right now, they're reportedly taking calls on Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell. [TheScore]

I mean, I like Rossi and all, but Kap is the only person to ever hit 100 points.  Maybe wait and see if Boldy does it first before we make jokes.  Besides, if Rossi ever does that, he's got a $15m contract waiting for him here too.

For now, 4x5.5m is probably fine.

Former 6'4" Wild draft pick center Jack McBain signs 5x$4.25M for three years of 26, 26, and 27 points.  He wouldn't sign with the Wild because he wasn't able to crack the line up.  Just shows you've got to let the kids play at some point to get better even if it costs some losses or playoffs, instead of being blocked by the Freddie Gaudreau's and Victor Rask's.

He wasn't traded because there were no adequate offers?

By golly where did Friedman get that scoop from?  What's next, the team that wins is usually the one that scores the most goals?  Rossi doesn't have a contract because they haven't agreed on one yet?
