Despite almost every Minnesota Wild fan wanting the team to tank the rest of the season to increase draft lottery odds or even just get into the top-10 of picks this June, the team has a different idea.
Somehow and someway, the Wild are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and are essentially earning points in a hopeless battle. Really, these results will eventually mean nothing because they are just simply too far gone to even realistically dream of the playoffs.
With eight games left, the Wild sit eight games back of the Los Angeles Kings, who are gripping tight to the second Wild Card spot. There is a chance that the Wild reach them, but that would also involve them winning every single remaining game and the St. Louis Blues and Kings, not earning a single point. Unless that happens, the Wild might just be dead in the water.
Considering the team's next two games are against the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets, we might see the Wild accept defeat and move on to focus on next year.
