    That's Wild

    • Mats Zuccarello suffered a lower-body injury on Nov. 14, and it was quite a lower-body injury. After getting struck in the cup by a Brock Faber slapshot and had a "massive dent" in the protective equipment, Zuccarello suffered a ruptured testicle and some of his Wild teammates give more information with some quite specific details about the below-the-belt injury. [BMTN]
    • Are we not appreciating Marc-Andre Fleury enough in what will be his final season in the NHL? Feels a little odd as he goes out with a whimper as the Wild's backup. [Hockey Wilderness]
    • The Wild play an actual hockey game tonight as they go up north to face the Oilers in Edmonton. [NHL.com]

    Off the trail...

    • ESPN made some bold predictions before the start of the 2024-25 NHL season and they're looking back on these hot takes to see if they're close to becoming actual reality. [ESPN]
    • Nikita Grebenkin made his NHL debut for the Toronto Maple Leafs last night and received one message before he took the ice: "Backcheck, forecheck, paycheck" [TLN]
    • There are some interesting defensemen that should be available at the trade deadline this year. [Daily Faceoff]

Oh geez, some Marine Corps guys I was duck hunting with told me about a guy who ruptured the twig, not the berries. I don't care whether one part or the others, I feel the man's pain in the stomach-pit area. Ouch... Maybe one day it can be a fun story, maybe?

I have a feeling this will be more than 3-4 weeks. If I read it correctly, it's 3-4 weeks without lifting anything. Then there's rehab and restrengthening. It seems to me that this might be about a 6 week injury, coming back right after Christmas. I think I'd be ready to LTIR him.

We're headed to the quarter pole in good shape in the standings. But missing out on some of the playmaking could be an issue. What can we do to replace that? I think for me, this would be a great opportunity to audition some guys. I think I'd do it with the kids, give them a week and let them know ahead of time that we want to see where your game is but you'll be sent back in a week. Let them know it's a tryout and others will be looked at too. This is their chance to impress which starts at practice.

For me, I thought we saw some improvement from Ohgren. Shore hasn't played yet, Ben Jones did and it was unremarkable. Mikey Milne also had a chance which was equally unremarkable (in fact, I really was expecting a guy who was all out hustle in the Shaw mold and didn't get that). I'd like to see Bankier and maybe Clarke. As I've said earlier, the extra N gamechecks are a huge bonus for the kids. It does make a difference.

I've got it. Zuccy has the super long stick right?

Who else for the Wild can use the super long stick? #13...

Trenin plays the wing too, it's a perfect fit. That'll get him going on the scoresheet.

Come on Hynes'r start thinking outside the box a little bit at least. Trenin would have half a dozen goals by Christmas.

    😁

I thought you were going in a different direction here.

I think it's a lefty curve. Should we be looking at pictures of carrots? (perhaps this is just a local commercial)

Makes me wonder if Zuccy's Christmas tree this will be covered in nut cups instead of ornament balls.  Maybe even some protective netting or plexiglass.
