  • Wild Win at REA

    Guest

The Minnesota Wild and Buffalo Sabres faced off at the first class Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, North Dakota last night and the "home team" Wild came out on top. Improving to 3-1 in exhibition play, the Wild showed great strength on the ice last night. Brian Rolston (who led the Wild in goals last year) scored both goals. The first was a power play goal in the second period that went sped right over the top of the Sabres goalie glove and the eventual game winner was early in the third when the Sabres left him open. Wild goalie Josh Harding finished with 25 saves.

Wild Roster Rants: I still think there is a spot on this team for Benoit Pouliot. He played well at REA as a center and Jacques is still looking for a solid player to work with the Marian Gaborik and Pavol Demitra line. Pouliot will have to compete with Dominic Moore for the job for sure. There aren’t too many spots open and if I am doing the math right I don’t think the Wild will be able to keep Matt Foy, Petr Kalus, Benoit Pouliot and Dominic Moore on the starting line-up –I know Jacques Lemaire and staff are talking about that right now . . . if only I could be a fly on the wall.

Next Wild Game: tomorrow night at Xcel vs. St Louis Blues. Wild tickets start at less than $15!
