Minnesota Wild Captain Pavol Demitra strained his hip in the game against Colorado on Sunday, but he is listed as day to day on the Wild Injury report. Demitra, who was acquired in a trade with Los Angeles, tied for the team lead in points with 64 last year and he has shown the Wild what a gifted playmaker he is.
With the Minnesota Wild firing on all cylinders right now I would hate to see a key player like Pavol Demitra go down with an injury. The chemistry is hot right now and with him out of the line-up it has potential to cool down. I hope Demitra’s hip strain doesn’t become a repeat of Gaborik’s groin strain last year – that sucked – there is no reason a strain should put some of your best players out of commission for more than 3 games (I know I am not a doctor, but come on guys play tough). Demitra is with the team on the Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado road trip so I have a feeling he will play at least one of those games. Assistant GM Tom Lynn says no decision has been made yet whether the team will recall a forward for insurance purposes.
Also injured is Dominic Moore - Moore suffered a strained abdominal muscle. He has missed six games and did not make the Wild's road trip. He was placed on injured reserve and Cal Clutterbuck was recalled from Houston.
