Sorry for missing the last few Iowa games. The game recaps should now be back regularly.
13:03 into the first Mario Lucia opened scoring with an unassisted tally with a high-slot shot that beat Anton Forsberg. Lucia stopped a clearing attempt by the Monsters and then just walked in to take the shot and scored. The goal extended Lucia's point streak to 6 games.
No other goals were scored int he first and Iowa ended up with only 3 shots on goal in the first period to the Monsters' 7. Iowa still walked away with a 1-0 lead from the first.
Christoph Bertschy extended the lead to 2-0 by getting behind Anton Forsberg and managed to somehow redirect the puck in. Teemu Pulkkinen and Gustav Olofsson got assists on the goal. The Cleveland Monsters again heavily outshot Iowa with 11 shots to 6 by Iowa.
Teemu Pulkkinen added an empty netter for Iowa to make the score 3-0 assisted by Colton Beck. In the third Iowa again had only 3 shots and the Monsters had 10. Meaning that in the end of the game Iowa had only 12 shots and they won 3-0! Alex Stalock made 28 saves to get the shutout and has recently looked worth his recent 2-year-extension and is making a case to potentially replace Darcy Kuemper as back-up for the NHL club.
