They have a second chance. The Minnesota Wild visited the New Jersey Devils earlier this week and ended up losing 4-3 while looking not very good. Now, they have a returning key player to potentially get some revenge.

Matt Boldy is making his return after a seven-game absence due to injury. Instantly, the Wild's forward lines look more complete and not a disfigured mess of players playing above their projected spot and trying to bite off more than they could ever chew. Now, Boldy will get into his regular position next to Joel Eriksson Ek and create a real and consistently dangerous duo outside of Minnesota's top line.

Will this be the one addition that could turn what has been a disappointing season around? Maybe we will have to wait until Jared Spurgeon and Frederick Gaudreau are fully healthy to not lay blame on the injuries as the Wild's problem, but it should still make an impactful difference nevertheless.

Mids got straight up out muscled in front. Not a good 1st period so far. This PP could get them right back in.

Got out muscled on the first as the forward went behind the goal too. He's getting exposed this year without Spurgeon. He's supposed to be the physical one and he's certainly not showing it.

Maybe the Wild players will eventually feel bad enough and get sufficiently embarrassed enough to start playing good hockey.

I've given them a lot more credit so far this season than they deserve.

The sad thing is, there is definitely good play to be had, but the people who are suppose to lead the charge aren't the ones doing it.  Kaprizov and Zuccarello look like deer in headlights, and Ek, Rossi, Foligno, and Maroon are all playing more consistent by doing simple things.

Well if there’s any silver lining after being down 0-2 is that the 1st line looked slightly better. KK97 still turning some pucks over. First part of the PP looked pretty good too.

Rough period for Mids, both goals had his fingerprints on them and not in a good way. Wild gotta get the next one, be damn near impossible to come back 0-3 to this team.

Wonder if they were working on the PP in the last couple days or if it was all about the costumes and PR hype.

Supposedly had some long practices on the break. I just still don't understand the load management/no practice thing. Special teams and face off practice can be pretty fricking low tempo and not over exert anyone. I'm just glad the NHL hasn't gone fully NBA on this shit. Glad I don't like basketball, because what they're doing is downright embarrassing.
