    It's the finale!

The Minnesota Wild are visiting the Nashville Predators for the regular season finale before they start the first round of the playoffs next week. And because they have third place in the Central Division locked-up, with nowhere to go, they are treating this final game as a chance to rest a whole lot of good players and make it like an exhibition game.

For the lineup, they have the clear potential third line (with Frederick Gaudreau going up to the second and either Marco Rossi or Sam Steel replacing him) in the playoffs, and the established fourth line there. Then, it's a whole lot of Iowa players and Calen Addison trying out his luck on the right wing.

Even on the blue line, Brock Faber getting top-pairing minutes either means that he will be considered to have a spot in the playoffs, or he is just keeping the seat warm for Jared Spurgeon and it makes Dean Evason's job easier to swap out Faber and Jon Merrill for Spurgeon and Jonas Brodin for the final lineup.

    Projected Wild lineup

Gustav Nyquist -- Frederick Gaudreau -- Marcus Foligno
Brandon Duhaime -- Connor Dewar -- Ryan Reaves
Nic Petan -- Marco Rossi -- Sammy Walker
Nick Swaney -- Damien Giroux -- Calen Addison

    Jake Middleton -- Brock Faber
    Jon Merrill -- Matt Dumba
    Alex Goligoski -- John Klingberg

    Filip Gustavsson
    Marc-Andre Fleury

    Projected Predators lineup

Zach Sanford -- Cody Glass -- Philip Tomasino
Kiefer Sherwood -- Thomas Novak -- Luke Evangelista
Juuso Parssinen -- Colton Sissons -- Yakov Trenin
Egor Afanasyev -- Mark Jankowski -- Michael McCarron

    Ryan McDonagh -- Dante Fabbro
    Tyson Barrie -- Jake Livingstone
    Spencer Stastney -- Cal Foote

    Juuse Saros
    Kevin Lankinen

Sure hope this is a 'warmup' game for Gus and not a 'resting' game for MAF. 🙄

On another note, this makes 79 games played for Dumba this season. The most he's played in 5 years (82 GP 17-18). I'll have to compare his defensive stats again once this game's over.

Game's not on AFN, so I won't be watching. But hopefully Rossi gets a better look in an 'exhibition' style game then he has been in normal games.

This is "supposedly" setting Gus up for game 1, but I hear ya, get nervous about that.

Just joined for Gaudreau's goal. Besides being outshot (and until recently down goal), how have the Wild / baby Wild looked so far? Any players standing out (good or bad)?

Started multi-tasking and I have been paying little to at times no attention to the game since the end of the first.

Overall, it's kind of looked like you'd expect and much like the first two periods of the Hawks game. So a pre-season game. The Preds are skating a pretty young bunch too I think.

Edit...oh, Klinger had one or two serviceable defensive sequences which is two more than he's had since joining I think.

Thanks for the download! I assumed this much. Good to hear about Klinger — so what you're saying is he was saving all of his skills for the playoffs then? Solid plan!

God I hope so...because him and Merrill will more than likely be a huge liability in the playoffs.
