Article: What Is the Wild's Plan In Net Next Year?

It's Wallstedt's job to lose. He is the plan as a backup to Gus until he surpasses him. If he can. I think he feels slighted after getting the contract and being sent down. Guerin was too loyal to Fluery, not that he wasn't a good goaltender for the Wild. He did choose to keep Fluery over Fiala and the Wild would probably still have Talbot, who is no slouch. I know, we also wouldn't have Faber or Ohgren, but just a different way to look at things and what if's.

Thanks for this article. I was wondering about this very topic. I think we all figured on Wally getting more than a couple games in the N this year...and assumed he would be average at worst. Hopefully this is just a down year and he bounces back and shows the talent that made him an exciting prospect.

Gus has his ups and downs but in the end he is our starter.  BG needs to let Wallstedt be the #2 guy.  He has been down in the A for long enough.  It is time he plays up and stays up.  I have confidence that he will play just fine.  I would even be willing to bet that Wallstedt has a higher save percentage then Gus from January of 2026 to the end of the season next year.  I'm not a fan of paying good cap space for 2 goalies.  Especially when we have a solid keeper sitting in IA.  We need that money for on ice players.

Gus was a terrible goaltender before the Wild traded for him.  When they announced the trade everyone outside of Ottawa said, "Who?"  Then it turned out he wasn't that bad.  He is definitely not consistent but he is solid in goal.  Wallstedt is better, problem is his head wasn't right in the beginning of the season and that has set his season.  Will this season define him?  I don't think so.  I think he will bounce back and once he gets a solid foothold in St. Paul it will be fine.

Signing a FA goalie would be a bad idea.

Would, could Fluery.....nah Billy wouldn't do that....would he??Nah....🤔

Lol...I didn't want them to resign him for this year, but, the way he's played if he wanted to stick around for another year for the league minimum, I'd have to say I'm game. Minority opinion I'm sure...

In other news, sounds like Brodin is skating (Russo).

Listening to the Paul Allen show this morning from the Tria Practice Rink, Brods was skating with Andy Ness while they watched. Good news or at least it is a start. There was speculation from the hockey writers and former players that Kappy may not be back until the last two games of the regular season. Again, that was just speculation. I don't want to get ODC into heart palpitations.
