Fezig Verified Member
Outside of Russo and the media, who is talking about trading Rossi? I don't see many readers of this site promoting it. It's not like the squad has an overabundance of goal scoring centers and it's hard to imagine getting the equivalent in return. Maybe, just maybe, it's the media conjuring up trade speculation as that's pretty much what they do.

Citizen Strife Verified Member
I've been of the belief you can fit both Rossi and Yurov and figure out who is better afterward. Any worry that the team would lose offensive punch with Zuccarello out and Kap and Boldy going up top died when the Rossi/Hartman line (and I guess Johansson too) found success. If keeping Rossi means losing a Lauko or Khusnutdinov, you do it. As good as the 4th line has been, they aren't the scoring threats Rossi keeps proving to be, "passenger" or not. "But he's 5'9" and kinda slow." I like Khusnutdinov, but what has the speed advantage gotten him but PK skills? Khusnutdinov has 6 points in 100 games. Rossi has 56 in 120.... If you have to bridge deal, just get the bridge deal done. Figure out if Yurov or Rossi are the better top line fit and pay them more later. Imyourhuckleberry Verified Member
Looks like Ohgren(5 goals in 5 games) and Toporowski(6 goals in 4 games) might be the best forwards in Iowa. They have as many goals now as the guys who have been in Iowa for 14 to 15 games.
Citizen Strife Verified Member
Oh goodie. Just read a Flyers dirt sheet site wondering if getting Rossi is a good idea. Yeah...for them. Sure shit doesn't look like Frost is a good return for that. Maybe Frost and a first or something just to get more than a flier on a Flyer...lol sorry. Had to do it. It was there. OldDutchChip Verified Member
his last game against Oilers showed what we (me and Heiny and Billy!) are fearing will happen to him during end of season games and into the playoffs. we cannot hide that many small players. zuccy will come back, and unfortunately for Rossi, there is either him or Zuccy. as for the fancy stats - ask your self - is it fair for any of them to be compared to Rossi? maybe then we should look outside of stats? maybe consider (a) luck (b) teammates (c) attention that is afforded in extreme measures to cover for kaprizov, so Rossi either gets spoon fed those on L1 or gets easier time playing against weaker D on other Lines? i very much doubt that any of the 14 other players on that list play against the same competition. but regardless - he is one of our biggest assets that we have - to loose that is foolish. Billy will capitalize on it, and Rossi will be gone at TD. if it brings us back Tuch and closes the Dumba circle - that will be fine with me. mnfaninnc Verified Member
Reading up on Jiricek, it seems like he is likely to be moved. CBJ might ask for Rossi, but he's not worth that at this point. He's more worth a Johansson. I would take a chance on the defender. I think we could get him into Iowa and put him in a more structured environment, something more stable. He's 20 and has confidence issues. That happens to a 20 year old coming over from Europe with not much around him. At least in Iowa, he'd have his teammate, Spacek, to help him out. But, just like Laine, Jiricek has minimal market value. Waddell wants a top 6 wing who can help with scoring. Futures is likely what he will get. Jiricek has the potential to be a great replacement for Spurgeon and an RHS shot on D. He's not ready yet, but he can be. Waddell will have offers, how can our prospect offers stand up? I'm saying a guy like Peart and maybe a wing (nhl) like Bankier might get this done. Perhaps flipping a Heidt who is less far along might work? CBJ is aways away from competing, so maybe Heidt fits their timeline better?
bisopher Verified Member
Agreed with everyone that says Rossi is doing just fine as 1C / 2C. If L1 size is an issue, put Ek between KK97 and Zucc, and let Rossi center Boldy and Jojo (or Hartman, or Ohgren eventually) against "heavy" teams. When Yurov arrives, either in 25 or 26 (he might very well need part or most of a season in IA, same as Ohgren), we'll have the Good Problem of deciding how to play Ek, Rossi, and Yurov on L1 / L2 / L3. Agreed with others that, based on his body of work so far, Knudi is the expendable one, not Rossi. Best scenario is that no other team will give GMBG anywhere close to equal value for Rossi, and we keep him until its blindingly obvious to EVERYONE that he's the elite player he's showing every sign of becoming.
