MacGyver Verified Member
Not a major injury but possibly nagging. Plus miss most of the pre season. Sounds like a slow start for Mr. Boldy. The injury bug-a-boo is off to an early start.
mnfaninnc Verified Member
So, Boldy is out. I wonder if this means he won't be practicing, or just won't appear in preseason games? I was correct, the Winnipeg game was, indeed, a TSN production and available on ESPN+. I just finished watching yesterday. Several players stood out, both good and bad. Caeden Bankier was probably the player of the game. He banged home the 1st goal on the PP, and got the 3rd assist on the next one, Hunt's goal also on the PP. What he did was carry the puck up the ice and start the play, but it didn't end there, he then went to the net and completely screened Kahkonnen for Hunt's slapper. Bankier looked taller than most of the guys on the ice, but a little lanky. He looked good in the dot early, but needs to learn some different faceoff moves as he got beat by more experienced players later. Also of note, Winnipeg iced a much better "veteran" squad than the Wild did and Kahkonnen was not very good. The Wall looked very calm in net even when we were shorthanded. At 1 point he let in 1/37 shots. My only complaint was that both goals scored on him were late in a period where a goalie absolutely must lock it down. Ryder Ritchie was both good and bad. He showed some contact, and definitely a shoot first ask questions later mentality. Coming from an RHS it was refreshing. He was playing against big boys though, and he looked youthful. Kalem Parker played and was not very good in his own zone. He needs to fill out and get stronger. He could not handle the big guys at all. Hunt and Chisholm both looked pretty good and both looked bigger, Hunt more than Chisholm. Carson Lambos looked good. He also looked bigger and was physical. Out of the 3 defenders, I'd say he looks like he put on the most weight and might be a little taller. Merrill looked really slow, Gaudreau did nothing remarkable. Lauko did show an extra gear and had a nice blocked shot breakaway. Ben Jones looked pretty good in the 3rd. Our PK looked better, and we had a bunch of guys who hadn't played together, but Winnipeg's PP had some guys who were on it last year playing.

Lot’s of positive buzz around Bankzy this year. Alright I’ll get on board. A taller center man with some offense to his game? Let’s go young man. Take a spot from someone. Injuries will open spots for tryouts this season. game on ballys tonight!!!

mnfaninnc Verified Member
I don't think Bankier makes the team this season, but it looks like he may get a prominent role in Iowa and be a possible callup. From what I saw, it looks like Heinzy values goalie screens. That also means more slappers from the point. On the PK, it also looked like he valued 4 players around the blue line, but, if you get the opportunity, go try for the shorty. From what I saw, it seems like the game is more structured under Heinzy. Also, I forgot to mention Graeme Clarke. He looks like a Sammy Walker type with a better shot. I think he gets minimal opportunities to come up. He also looked small.
