Protec Verified Member
His failure to encourage or light a fire under Johannsson last year was the straw that broke the camel's back. 😆 Darby is a great MN hockey personality who's been around a long time but it's time for some new voices. Let's turn the page during the off-season. No more repeats of last year's coaching debacle. So long Darby. Great guy but MN needs to be better, change of scenery & voices isn't bad. Hope Guerin can cut ties with certain players too who haven't met the expectations.
Protec Verified Member
Suter looks like he should be relieved of his duties too. Takes minor tonight 1st period and EDM immediately scores. After being bad the last game Dallas fans have gotta be hoping Suter gets career-ending diarrhea between periods. Of course NHL refs protect McDavid not Kaprizov. That’s right I remember the pic of Darby having a come to Jesus convo with NoJo for extended period.  Maybe darbs was given the thankless task of getting NoJo a spine.  Well that was an unreasonable ask and clearly didn’t happen.  Darby was asst coach of ‘special projects’ and NoJo is definitely special

Like Hendricks, they were successful but aren't Phil Housley or Scott Stevens. Asking Darby to make the team's centers win draws or draw up the most amazing PP or PK is also just okay. It wasn't the worst but it sure ain't the best. MN needs to look at FL or Dallas since they own the Central and recognize where they measure up. If those teams are the benchmark for success, MN has to make changes. We've been saying for years, the faceoffs and special teams are lacking. Better late than never I guess, but hopefully Guerin is doing something to address this. The playoff examples of faceoffs and deadly OR impotent PP results are clear. That stuff matters like all the other small things. The Wild need to dispense with the excuses and quit hoping for the best. They need to become the best, no excuses. Problem is, I look at the roster and it's a ways off from Shesterkin, Bobrovsky, Oettinger. Defense is good, not elite. Forwards are good, unbalanced with crummy playoff history. MN has a #97 but he's not with a German goal-scorer on the PP, we got a Norwegian Hobbit. Let's be real, MN has to improve a lot with little money and locked-in laziness.(NoJo)
