They should have been doing that this year and doing everything they could to get yurov to commit coming over. Only edit I have on the lines is putting freddy in the box and giving someone else a shot. Freddy and Jojo are not worth it and it would be better to give someone a shot. And for all those freaking out about size, bring in some big bodies then but freddy and Jojo need to go.

But it is good to have the vets to step up/in when guys struggle or get hurt, though. It'd be a spendy 4th line but it'd be a solid 4th line. IMHO...one of Nojo or Frauddie will get traded this offseason.

I want Nojo traded. I think the lines will be: KK-Ek-Boldy Zucc-Rossi-Ogie (or free agent) Foligno-Marat-Hartman IA Wild Guy-Frauddie-Guy from Gus trade* Mid-Spurge Brodin-Fabes Chis-Bogo Flower-Wall*

(And just because he's a #1 doesn't mean he's good. 😌) The statistics say he's been above average for the Wild, but even if he's just an average goalie, isn't that more valuable than a 4th line wing? Gus was inconsistent this year, but he still finished above the NHL average(.898) on save percentage, finishing at .899. He has the potential to be a lot better, as we saw the prior season. He was at .906 after trading away Addison early in this season. For goalies who played at least 20 games, the 30th best goalie had a .906 save percentage. 20th was at .909. Fleury was outside of the top 50 despite getting easier games, on average, than Gus. Gus seems to have gotten the hint that he needs to work harder in the offseason, so is it possible that he could be a top 15 goalie again? He seems the most likely goalie they have to finish top 20 next season and I'd want to see that for the Wild.

Imyourhuckleberry Verified Member
Quote Guerin should have second thoughts about trading Rossi now that scoring wingers like Yurov and Heidt are emerging. I like Kalisha's articles, but these guys have all been playing C this year. We should expect Yurov to play C for the Wild. I could see Rossi moving to wing, but I don't know if the Wild would go that route or just play Rossi as the 3rd C. I'd play JEE, Yurov, Rossi, Khusnutdinov as my 4 centers.

Yeah, I don't see them playing up in the roster in their first year of NHL play just to get them NHL experience, but these guys are very different prospects. Ohgren is a wing, and a good 2-way player, so seems much more likely than Haight or Heidt to play 2nd line wing. Rossi was far more productive than these guys his draft year(120 points in 56 games), and he didn't outproduce Hartman by age 22(despite playing 150 more minutes). I don't think the coach is gonna just throw youth in for 16+ minutes right out of camp next year. Yurov is a different story. The Wild said before the season last year that they could see Yurov playing C in the NHL, then he went and led his KHL team in scoring from the C position, in the 2nd best league in the world, and will likely help them win it all. I'm fairly confident the Wild will want Yurov at C.
mnfaninnc Verified Member
We need Yurov to come over. That is a fact. But, could Yurov replace Boldy on the 1st line, and we build the 2nd line around Rossi/Boldy? It would seem like Kaprizov and Yurov would have an immediate connection, not just because they are Russian, but because they were trained with similar coaching. They should know where each other are going to be. I would think having a net driving center in Ek would help. The one thing I want to see is training camp next season. I'm hoping Heinzy gives everyone a ground 0 chance at claiming spots. This team could go very young and consequently very fast next season. I believe it is time to transition....and figure out a way to grab Brady Tkachuk!

Rossi needs to go away. They can get good value for him, but the he's too small, the Wild are too small, and since Marco isn't growing, trading him away makes sense.

The Russians need to play together. They compliment each other well. Yurov is a scorer. Kaprizov is a playmaker and scorer. Khusnutdinov is a face-off guy, a defensive forward, and will be a playmaker when he actually has legitimate linemates and not scrubs like Johansson and Gaudreau.

If a deal is to be made with Ottawa, I would like to see a bigger deal. Something along the lines of: Boldy, Rossi, Gus for Brady, Zub and a pick or two. Imyourhuckleberry Verified Member
1 hour ago, FredJohnson said: Pretty sure Yurov is staying in Russia 1 more season. Why is that? The initial offer he got from his team in January wasn't strong. He negotiated a better deal, but didn't sign it. If he's staying there, why hadn't he signed an extension? On February 12th, it was indicated that he worked out a contract to remain in Russia. On February 23rd, it was reported that he had not actually signed an extension. One wonders if the Wild gave an indication that they want him in a top 6 role in the NHL next year, and that made Yurov pause. Nobody is going to report anything until his season is over. I believe his team may have just won the KHL championship today, so perhaps we'll know more about his future soon. Yurov led his team in regular season scoring and helped them win a championship(just confirmed). What else is left for him to do in the KHL? Also, on March 1st, Russo reported: Quote As for Yurov, the 2022 first-round pick has negotiated an extension in the KHL but hasn’t yet signed the contract. Guerin is holding out hope the Wild can sign him and get him over in the fall, as well as Yurov’s fellow 2022 first-round pick, Liam Ohgren. “We’d love to be able to sign (Yurov) and have him over here,” Guerin said. “He’s a high-end player for us. We’d love to have him for next year.” Edited April 25 by Imyourhuckleberry

If Yurov is close to as good as Kaprizov is it would change the whole dynamics of the Wild. The top nine could be very flexible. You could role the identity line of Foligno, Ek, and Ohgren. You would then have two legitimate scoring lines with Kaprizov, Rossi, Boldy, Yurov, Lizard, and Knut. Hartman could fill in anywhere for depth. With Yurov in the top nine it gives Hines the ability to adapt to different teams. Of course this all hinges on if Yurov comes over and plays at a high level along with Knut and Ohgren stepping up next year.
