Bolds will come around. He’s young an I can’t fault him much when the whole team is in disarray. He will have respectable numbers , not record setting . Kappy looks broken. He’s carried this team since he got here and probably realizes hes got to keep carrying them.
Russo made some good points in podcast an athletic. He said wild fans don’t realize that after buyouts  wild will still have no money. In couple years they need to sign , kappy , Rossi and Faber.  Kappy and Faber are going to get paid. There’s your buyout money. Bill won’t be coming home with a shiny new toy from free agency or trade.  The wild are banking on salary cap going up a lot. They will also have to sign next wave of kids before his ntc/ntc extensions expire. He really boxed himself in on the salary cap for years .
Russo also talks about how we are similar to Calgary. Both with high expectations  but playing poorly. The difference is Calgary didn’t extend their ufa s . They are waiting till trade deadline. Unlike bill. So if wild and Calgary are out by trade deadline. Calgary gets a huge haul in picks and prospects for ufa s and we sit on our hands. Knowing we could have got 1st round picks and prospects for foligno , Hartman, and zucc  who then could have circled back in summer because rental teams don’t have cap space to sign them.  Bill will have egg on his face. If he misses playoffs . It’s a total disaster he created for no reason by signing them when he did and giving them contracts he can’t move .

LaPanta was on podcast was pushing his Billy can do no wrong propaganda . He said extensions aren’t bad because there’s no accountability in todays nhl. What a joke. Yes there is it’s called trading or waiving a player to send to minors. That’s a wake up call for player and team. However Billy can’t do because of nmc s. . You can get around ntc like Tampa did but not a nmc. Tampa told mcdonagh waive your no trade or we put you on waivers for any team to claim you. He waived his ntc and had a say  in where he was traded. Billy can’t do anything!
So this is the wild team for the next 5 years . There only change will come from within depending on how kids develop. Hopefully for Boldy and kappy sake  these kids get here quick to help because it’s not coming from anywhere else.

NMCs are not immovable. Shooter can move players under this scenario, they just have to go to a place where the holder approves. That could be a Stanley Cup contender.

I highly doubt that Zuccarello, Foligno or Hartman would bring back a 1st.

Kaprizov, Rossi, and Faber together won't cost $14-15M.  They might get close if they continue to improve, but Zuccarello, Fleury, Johansson, Goligoski, Merrill, etc also will likely be out of the picture and largely replaced by some of the prospects still on ELCs.  Then add salary cap increases and there is even more room.

In what reality would teams (most of which don't have much cap space to begin with) give up 1sts for the players you are naming?  I don't see it.

Fantastic article with detailed concise analysis. Thanks for that. The Wild should be grateful for your accurate and honest assessments. Personally I found the article very encouraging. I’d like to hear your projections for the Wild’s most likely SC window with this year’s extensions.

One thing i get a little worried about having so many nmc is if expansion hits again sooner than were expecting and all those nmc have to be protected and yikes we have to leave  Ek ,Kappy, Bolds , Faber  exposed  .

Rumor has it that Houston is on the docket for possible expansion or perhaps Coyotes moving because of no arena deal yet. Expansion would definitely be scary for the Wild.
