Article: Wilderness Walk: Roster Slimming Down

For those wondering, looks like Nick Swaney, Zane McIntyre, Jacob Lucchini, and Steven Fogarty got sent down yesterday.

Sunday, Ryan O'Rourke, Carson Lambos and Adam Beckman got sent down.

Hunt and Hentges probably get sent down when they are healthy.

So, how does this work? If Hunt and Hentges are both hurt when the season starts, and say they go on IR, don't they accrue NHL salaries and count against the cap? If that were the case, wouldn't we be in danger of being over the cap to start out the season?

Also interesting: The Wall, Bankier, and Milne still remain in training camp. I wonder if Bankier is participating or if he's still hurt. Of course Mermis is in camp as he may be D8 at this point.

Don't count Mikey out.  Kid will eventually carry the Shawzy torch as a fan favorite due to his hustle and grit.  Real grit based on his play in the corners, not a marketing campaign created by a few 27 year old dime pieces working in the marketing dept.

It is going to be interesting seeing what Haight can do this year. It would be great if he can make the Canadian Juniors team. He looked great in the Showcase.

Both Haight and Heidt are killing it up Nordt!

Heidt (Prince George Cougars - WHL) 7 pts (4 goals & 3 apples)  2 GP
Haight (Saginaw Spirit - OHL) 3 pts ( 1 goal & 2 apples) 2 GP

Haight is also wearing a "A" on his sweater this season!

That line along with Walker was on fire. Granted they were facing Chicago prospects but they are prospects also. They are going to tear up the A when they get there next year.

Bankier and Milne are injured and are training with staff here. Wallstedt is getting tutored by Chabot and Flower.

Information of note on Wallstedt, he came into camp in better shape this year, but is still not at NHL level. BG commented on this and indicated he likes his game, swagger and confidence, but wants his physical shape and intensity to continue to grow. A lot of that going around with our goalies (Gus)other than Flower and his age.
