Reading the couple few topics above, I would like to say how little I care about Mitch Marner’s problems. Sometimes MN has felt like a Toronto-esque failure-fest but our fans aren’t as bad. More stoic in MN and we’re able to manage the dismay a lot better. Thinking about that situation and GM musical chairs, I will not be surprised to see it go sideways there. Can Bertuzzi stay healthy and is their grit-injection gonna work?

I think you need just the right formula with grit. MN has Maroon who has been part of that recipe before. I like that Guerin is sticking to the plan. We’re getting closer and hopefully Maroon will be able to show these young guys how it’s done. By playoffs the Wild should be just as well positioned as they were this season to win.

I kinda think Maroon is gonna be a huge part of MN having success this year. When Guerin says "He draws guys into the battle", what that really means is that Maroon boosts morale. He's gonna help the Wild get harder to beat because they believe. They have what they didn't have, which is the cliche "Swagger" teams need to win. Florida just did it but so did Vegas. Reaves was that kind of guy but I would argue he's not at the Maroon level for Cup wins or game impact. Maroon has always been an impact player even without scoring lots of points. Reaves although I liked him in MN, was a temp-worker and there were times he wasn't noticeable. I would love to see the proposed line between Maroon, Dewar, and Duhaime. My L4 name suggestion.

I say thank goodness for Wilderness Hockey. I'll scoop the headlines of ESPN, but why pay for what you can read for free at Wilderness Hockey. The articles are depth articles and not fluff that every writer would write.

Any big Hockey publication is always about Toronto and the East Coast teams (pick one) Gotta love our home town feed and we are also graced with Russo and Smith of the Athletic.

I think back of games I watched of Tampa/Wild last year and I agree I like Maroon's style of play. He's a no BS guy and just plays the game. He lets the guys, teammates mix it up then he comes in and finishes it.

Reaves on the other hand is all about the show, I feel he is auditioning for TNT every time he hits the ice. He's always running the mouthpiece. Most choose not to fight him, but still there were cheap shots when he wasn't on the ice. He rarely retaliated after unless they were bad.

I was most disappointed in the playoffs where he was a ghost. Maroon on the other hand knows how to lead in the playoffs on and off the ice and is a winner.

I would argue Reaves didn't show up the times we really needed him. I DGAF about him getting a couple goals. Would have rather saw him rip some ones head off after Duhey got concussed or laid Suter out after all the crosschecks Kap got. He was suppose to be a deterrent but when you move like your skates are made of concrete, everyone knows they can just go right by you.

I feel like having a pure enforcer on the team is an old school thing and most teams have gone away from it in favor of rough and tumble guys that can still play the game at a high level. Maroon is one of those guys. I think it was a good hockey move to bring him in compared to Deslaurier or Reaves.

Goose,  you are right on with that assessment.  Maroon will be physical, less penalties,  a net front presence, Cup winning experience.  Best part he's costing us $800,000.
