Up North Guy Verified Member
Wow, mass exodus in Calgary. Too bad the Wild are most likely unable to take any advantage because of the cap issue.
Protec Verified Member
^^^ There seems to be a lot going on and the certainty with the cap at least gives GMs opportunities to do deals without reluctance for those reasons. Teams will have to replace players or make trades in ahead of free agency. This is the kind of environment where Guerin could take advantage. Not certain he could land Elias Lindholm but the availability of other UFAs, and the teams with cap constraints might allow the Wild better opportunities here than in previous off-seasons? There are players who might retire, teams who need goaltending, drama in Calgary & Toronto, big name UFAs, deep draft, new GMs looking to put a stamp on their start. Weird idea, but isn’t Dumba from Calgary? They’re losing Hanifin. Maybe the Wild ink Dumba and trade for Lindholm so both teams get a good result. Maybe a 2024 pick from MN to sweeten the pot? Considering Calgary might lose some guys for nothing, maybe Guerin could get creative and go after Lindholm?
mnfaninnc Verified Member
Would Dumba like to go home? He doesn't need to be resigned to be traded, but Calgary will want to speak to the agent before a deal. I think that Elias Lindholm is exactly the type of center we need. We need a guy who can play with the big guns and who has defensive acumen. He's a real center, not a converted one. On a personal note, did y'all miss me? No, I didn't bail on everyone, but we had a family trip to the Grand Canyon. We saw the south and west rims and toured Hoover Dam. It was all very impressive. That was my first time in Phoenix and Las Vegas. I arrived in LV about a week after the parade, though. There were water restrictions all over the place out there, and Lake Mead was down about 100' from capacity, 70' from normal.
Protec Verified Member
Yeah good you're back. Sounds like a fun trip. Dominating beer league goalies on Monday night is fun but being the foremost reply-guy isn't as gratifying. Perhaps a reminder that I might be over-doing it to a degree with the MN Wild opinions. I did read most of the articles while gone, just didn't reply. I can tell you this, having the comments sections continually bounce around on the phone was absolutely annoying! I'd probably have launched the phone into the Canyon had I tried to comment with all of that going on!
