Article: Boldy Can Learn Something From Tkachuk’s Playoffs

Boldy will never come close to the player Tkachuk is. He has zero grit in his game and I’m convinced it’s something you just can’t teach a player. They either have it or they don’t.

That isn’t to say Boldy won’t be a great forward. He just will never be a player like Tkachuk because he will never be as physical or tough to play against

Tkachuk can go and do basically anything he wants because he can fight his own battles at the drop of a hat , he could blast Reaves with a check in the corner and if a fight happenes all he has to do is hang on and not get hurt .  Players dont have to win fights they just need to weather the storm ,  but i suppose Boldy could pick his spots and have a little Tkachuk to his game  .

Yes. Too many one-faceted guys and not enough from all around is the problem. Players should still have their thing or identity but be able to tolerate adversity and also dish it out. You might not consider it much but the mental battles and emphasis on playing tough is what can protect your own group from an onslaught of one-way bullying which Minnesota enjoyed against Dallas.

Foligno thought the answer was gonna be big hits and the refs weren’t objective but that’s not what Vegas needed to do necessarily. Team hockey and team toughness with leaders who lead. That’s one area I’d like to see Ek go another level.
