    That's Wild

As the Minnesota Wild suffer a slew of injuries all throughout the roster, the recalls and demotions have been an absolute flurry. But with Brock Faber going down with an injury against the St. Louis Blues and Jake Middleton going on LTIR, the Wild were able to make an emergency recall for David Jiricek. A big web of transactions, but the young blueliner is now with the big club and could make his Wild debut Thursday night at home against the Colorado Avalanche. The big stage.

    • In other prospect-related news, Liam Ohgren has been named an AHL All-Star. [Iowa Wild]
    • Is it OK if Matt Boldy ends up being Kevin Fiala 2.0? [Hockey Wilderness]
    • With the Frost, Minnesota has been sort of a homecoming for Michela Cava. [Hockey Wilderness]

    Off the trail...

    • The Calder Trophy race has gotten way more interesting as of late. Macklin Celebrini is coming back down to earth and Lane Hutson is scoring a billion points as a defenseman for a mediocre team. All of this means one thing: Matvei Michkov is losing grip on the race. [Broad Street Hockey]
    • As Alex Ovechkin races to pass Wayne Gretzky and be the NHL's all-time goal leader, the stories get more interesting by the day. For instance, there has been just one, single player in the NHL that has been a teammate for both all-time greats. [ESPN]
    • The trade rumors only get more interesting as the year goes on. The most recent report coming out of Vancouver as their two stars hate each other, is that the New York Rangers offered a one-for-one trade of Mika Zibanejad heading to the west coast, and J.T. Miller returning to New York. That was immediately rejected by the Canucks. [Sportsnet]

Jiricek looked great last night.  Just needs more playing time.  He is able to push guys out away from the front of the net and rarely looses a battle in the corner.  Much better already than bogo, Merrill and Chisholm.  He is going to be a beast if he puts on 20 more pounds and gets more comfortable

If he develops like we hope, we will have the best NHL Dcore for the rest of this decade. Just next season, adding ZB to the mix while penciling in Jiricek every night. Wow. Faber, Brodin, Middleton, Spurgeon. The blue line could get us to the cup soon!

Need to find a way to get Spurgeon off the books to help bolster the forward core.  We are to deep at D and need to get more forward depth

    Things to do in ‘25….

    Sign Rossi and Kap.

Get a young winger/scorer. Can Ohgren or Yurov be that guy?

There is at least $14M cap space next season so is it essential to trade Spurgeon?

somehow I would bet BG gets a guy to elevate Boldy. Might be by the deadline, might be next season but we definitely have to get someone soon.

Yes we need to trade Spurgeon.  $8mm of that is going to Faber and if you want to sign Rossi to a 2-3 year bridge at 5mm there goes all the money.  That extra 7.5 of Spurgeon contract plus, 2mm for mojo being gone and 2mm fluery.  That gives you 12mm to sign forwards.  Without that we are going to have the same forward core that won’t get it done.  We need to get Tuch and another big center.

I have a feeling that BG is going to get a mid tier  FA  in the 5-6 mill range  and not really trade any significant pieces   maybe a freddie  but still have room for a move up from another league  ,  If we can get some scoring that makes it easier on the Wall and Gus

Did you remember that The Wall gets $2m next season? Honestly, with Hartman's year this year, I think he might be on the block over the summer. That may be a mistake as he might bounce back real well. It seems like he has had a horrible bout with bad luck.

Its sad that a domain from the Island of Tonga is more reliable than Bezos et al.

I do but I am old. Then again, I probably will not have cable next year so I will be searching for Wild coverage.

Per sportstrac, Fabers 8.5M is already accounted for along with 16 other contracts. Leaving 12.8M available plus a possible uptick in cap limit.  We do have to get Kap @. 9M and Rossi extended and 6 more guys on the roster. At least 3 of the 6 will be elc’s.
