One of the many descriptors Minnesota Wild fans would use when discussing defenseman Brock Faber has been "workhorse". Maybe it's for his natural and flowing mane on top of his head, or it's for how many minutes he's able to consume like it's nothing while on the ice.
Specifically during his rookie year, Faber was as dependable as any defenseman available and playing upwards of half of the entire game. This past season we saw a bit of a decline, but that didn't stop Minnesota native and longtime racehorse owners Bill and Al Ulwelling from naming one of their horses Faber, after the Wild defenseman.
Faber, the horse not the hockey player, earned a place in the starting gate and competed for the $1 million King's Plate over the weekend in Toronto. Unfortunately, it finished fourth -- maybe that's foreshadowing for the Wild's season.
