That's Wild
- Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin has come out and said that there is truly "no excuse" for his team to be performing like this. The Wild have been getting wins against the truly awful teams of the NHL, but against any stiff competition, they have slumped down in their proverbial chair and left the building with zero points. Games against the Avalanche, Flames, Golden Knights, Oilers (and even the Predators), all resulted in recent losses where they just looked miserable. [The Athletic]
- The Mikko Rantanen trade to the Carolina Hurricanes only hurries the Wild to get a contract extension done with Kirill Kaprizov. He's eligible to sign a new contract on July 1 of this year. [Hockey Wilderness]
- The NHL community on YouTube is having a tough battle with the league over fair use of game footage. It's rough. [Hockey Wilderness]
Off the trail...
- Dylan Strome went from an unqualified restricted free agent with the Chicago Blackhawks, hitting the open market at a very young age, to signing a "prove-it" deal with the Washington Capitals and now has found his superpowers. [ESPN]
- Local boy Scott Perunovich was sent to the New York Islanders from the St. Louis Blues for a minor conditional draft pick. [TheScore]
- In his return from his suspension, Connor McDavid scored and led the Oilers past the Seattle Kraken. [NHL.com]
