  • Minnesota Wild Linked To Jack Roslovic

The Minnesota Wild have had a busy couple of weeks but they might not be done. According to TSN's Chris Johnston on Tuesday's episode of Insider Trading, the Wild might just be one of the few teams who are looking into signing unrestricted free agent forward Jack Roslovic.

Roslovic is an interesting case. He has been linked to several teams but still remains unsigned with the season started. Whether it was waiting to get a better deal than whatever he was being offered or the right team to be sending him a contract, it appears that he's lost some opportunity to be on a roster for the opening days of the season.

So, could the Wild get a potential deal on a forward who just had a career year? Maybe. As Johnston mentions, Minnesota could use a forward after the injuries to Mats Zuccarello and Nico Sturm, and relying on players like Vinnie Hinostroza to be part of the replacement.

The Wild have over $3.5 million in cap space according to PuckPedia, so something could be worked out if they're interested. There is also space on the roster with them having 13 forwards but with recently recalled youngster Hunter Haight and the potential of Hinostroza being a healthy scratch.

    We'll see where it goes.

    That's Wild

    • The Wild have committed long-term to Filip Gustavsson -- so what does that mean for Jesper Wallstedt? [Hockey Wilderness]
    • Kirill Kaprizov isn't celebrating his record-breaking contract, it's still about winning in Minnesota. [StarTribune]

    Off the trail...

    • They were supposed to be terrible and they were starting a rookie goalie, but the Pittsburgh Penguins blanked the New York Rangers to open their season. [TheScore]
    • Now with Connor McDavid guaranteed to be on their team for three more kicks at the can, the Edmonton Oilers are driven to actually do the thing. [NHL.com]
    • The megadeals are flying, so what does that now mean for Montreal Canadiens star rookie Lane Hutson? [NHL.com]

Maybe see what the rookies do in actual games with stakes before spending money.  Losing Sturm sucks, but he was a fourth line guy.  See how Haight does in Game 1.

Spend money now, you won't have TDL money nor roster space.

No, just no.  Over ten years in the league, 22 goals as a high water mark.  I am sure he is a grit guy, but why not have cap space for the deadline?  If Guerin signs him he should be fired immediately but I think he will sign him to a 3 year, no-move deal.

This might be a decent gamble. I wouldn't think the contract would be very high, and it would be a 1 year deal. We could use another NHL forward, and I think he's better than Vinnie.

I guess it all depends on price.

I've heard the hang-up on Rosolvic is that he's looking for term on his next contract, probably tired of 1-2 year deals and bouncing around.  Hard pass on Roslovic.

In other news, Justin Brazeau scored the first two goals of the season for the Penguins last night (2nd star of the game). In 19 games with the Wild last year, he scored one goal. LOL!

Where is the Kyle Connor comparison to Kirill Kaprizov article? Connor re-signed for 8x$12M. Left wing, same age, nearly same production, fewer injuries, etc.

Sorry, but Kirill's deal is starting to leave a bad taste. McDavid and Connor also play in Canada, so their contracts are worth even less. If Eichel follows suit, Kirill is going to look down right shameful.

Im not really sure if it matters or not because if the Wild obtain a super player say Brady T, Jack E , David P   or anyone else in that class the yd have to dump salary anyways because those teams wont trade for scraps  So Kaps salary isn't hurting that scenario ,  Are there really any 8-9 million dollar FAs  worth signing  not that I'm aware of so Kappys salary not hurting that scenario .

Are we really going to post every time an-ex Wild player scores a goal?  If people want to bother, go ahead, but that reeks of low hanging fruit even by the most desperate of standards.

Likely not, but I admit to being interested that a player that was a borderline pylon during his entire (albeit short) time here managed a 2-0-2 scoreline in his first game in another sweater.

To the Oilers 1yr $1.5mil. Said the Wild offer was too low, guessing it was in the Mojo range.

Lol the Wild have been lucky to miss out on players they WOULD have spent on.  There will come a point where getting outside help will be necessary, but it needs to be higher end people.

I thought Canadian players got paid in US dollars because of the difference .

They do, but Canada has higher taxes, in general. Most players no trade lists include all Canadian teams because of it. Well that and they haven't won a cup since 1993.

Don't forget about their obsessed mentally ill fans that put players under a constant microscope while they live in a frozen tundra...

I guess it all comes down to weather the services they receive from higher taxes has value but i doubt  that multimillionaires cant provide on their own better ?

Brazeau scored again. Three goals in the first two games. Smokin!
