It'll be interesting to see how quickly he can turn things around for them, but that's, IMO, the toughest division in hockey.

Evason did pretty well with the team he had and the $15m debt he got shackled with.  Let's just hope Columbus doesn't suddenly get good.  The Wild could use extra wins in the schedule.  Good luck to Dean in every other game though, and the person he decided to punch in the arm after each win.

Is Freddy Gaudreau worth anything in return? Not based upon his last year's statistics. Is he worth something to Evason? Coaches like having a couple of guys who know their system that they've coached before.

Who were Evason's guys? We definitely know Freddy was, but who else was? Would they be willing to head over there too?

With Gaudreau, if he were free, would CBJ pick him up? This is essentially what happened to Goodrow with San Jose. Could Freddy be waived and the Wild have a deal with CBJ to put in a claim? They'd be 4th I think. Or, might he really want to go under Evason, and he gets traded for the "future considerations." If this happens, I would expect for it to happen in camp when someone beats out Freddy. In fact, Johansson might be an Evason guy too. He's got a full NTC, but, if he's beaten out by, say, the water bottles, maybe he agrees to go there for "future considerations" too.

I think if we dont appear to make the playoffs try trading him at the deadline ,if we do make the playoffs i would let his contract play out . I dont think its fair to jettison anyone if they helped make the playoffs no matter what .

The caveat here for both Johansson and Gaudreau is if one of the kids beats them out of their position. This would likely be done in training camp, but could be done as a midseason callup, ala Shaw. 

My expectation is that training camp will be wide open and young guys will get a shot at making the roster, including guys like Heidt. As I'm looking at it, and perhaps Lauko should also be on this list, I was thinking Freddy and Johansson were the lowest players on the roster totem pole. Perhaps that is wrong? 

I'm expecting very good training camps from Bankier, Milne, Lambos, Heidt, Ohgren, Dino. As we look, there's not that many spots for all of them. (I included only skaters)

I believe if any of the vets took the summer off, they could be transferred to another team. I'm expecting that several guys looked at what Rossi did last offseason and said to themselves "huh, that's all he needed to do, add 15 lbs. of strength. I can do that." If they didn't look at that success story and then themselves, they probably won't be more than an injury callup.

Specifically, guys like Bankier and Milne who were later draft picks should absolutely know that they have to work harder than the top picks. Both of these guys should have seen what just happened to Beckman, and realized that he was too weak to make a difference in the N. Nobody knows what Graehem Clarke will bring to the table, but one obstacle was just removed from their moving up. 

Lambos is a little different here. He's a smooth skating, puck moving, does everything well type of player. He had a +60 at Winnipeg in jrs. dropping to a -18ish in Iowa. That's got to be motivation to change something. The gym lifting, as I see it, may also be a great way to blow off steam and the stench of last season. If I were him, I would be pretty pissed about how last season went for him. I still believe in him as a top prospect, and that he will do everything he has to to be successful this season. I expect him to be one of the final cuts, and a top callup option this year.

I believe that bags of pucks are always needed.  We have some top prospects that could use them.
