With an assist earned on Thursday, Minnesota Wild prospect Danila Yurov broke the KHL record for most points scored by a player under 21 years old.
Yurov, 20, has scored 21 goals and 48 points through 60 games for the KHL's Metallurg Magnitogorsk, a substantial leap from his previous season high of just 12 points. An increased role and overall furthering his development has led him to writing his name in the history books among current NHL stars.
The previous record was held by Vladimir Tarasenko, when he scored 47 points in 54 games during his 2011-12 season, but others are scattered throughout the ranking. Evgeni Kuznetsov earned the fourth and sixth spot for his illustrious career at home before heading to the nation's capital; our very own Kirill Kaprizov is at fifth and eighth, as well as prospect Marat Khusnutdinov, who last year earned the seventh spot after scoring 41 points in 63 games.
Matvei Michkov, Pavel Buchnevich, Artemi Panarin -- other very good players are all over this list and now Yurov is at the top of all of them.
What does his future hold, though? Currently, there is a bit of a bind contractually. He does not have a contract with any team, but there are rumors going both ways in terms of him re-signing in the KHL for another year, or coming overseas to be with the Wild. Either way, he is still so young that if he does delay his trip by a year, he will still be just 21 years old when he makes his North American debut.
Another exciting Wild prospect that makes us feel better about this team.
