  • Minnesota Wild Sign Marcus Foligno to Four-Year Deal

    Giles Ferrell

The Minnesota Wild and restricted free agent left winger Marcus Foligno have come to terms on a four-year deal worth $11.5 million ($2.875 AAV), as reported by The Athletic's Michael Russo.

Foligno, 26, is entering his first season with Minnesota as he was acquired in June from Buffalo in the trade that saw Jason Pominville and Marco Scandella go the other way. He was the lone player unsigned on the roster, as the rest of the team took part in media day on Thursday.

As more of a grinder-type of player -- something some will say the Wild need -- Foligno has never scored more than 23 points in season, doing so in each of the past two seasons. He will more than likely surpass that mark under Bruce Boudreau's system this year, as the Wild like to bring a balanced attack offensively.

The Wild open training camp on Friday, with their first preseason game coming on Monday at Winnipeg.
