Nothing much to speak of on the Minnesota Wild side of things today, but there are some interesting stories about what might be going on around the league. That’s especially the case if you are interested in NHL captaincies. The most interesting idea regarding those I’ve heard is to pin the “C” on Marc-Andre Fleury for the Vegas Golden Knights. I doubt it will happen as the last time a goaltender was captain was the Robert Luongo experiment which didn’t go super well. Still, I think the idea has some merit. “Flower” has more playoff experience than anyone on the team. In fact, he quite possibly has more than the rest of the team combined (don’t quote me on it, I haven’t done the math). He’s successfully helped his team to multiple Stanley Cups and is arguably the most recognizable name on the roster, with apologies to James Neal. There’s no doubt that he will be a leader on the team, if not THE leader of the team. Maybe it’s an idea worth experimenting with, especially as the Knights are a brand new franchise and are already a bit of a science experiment themselves? Or perhaps that’s too strange for an unestablished new team to try? What do you guys think?
