The Washington Capitals are on the cusp of securing their first ever Stanley Cup. Of course, they still have to win the game tonight to do so, and the Vegas Knights will assuredly be doing everything in their power to stop that from happening. The odds may be against the Knights overcoming a 3-1 deficit in the series, but nothing about that team has followed expectations. Why would they start now?
On the other hand, the Capitals have looked pretty invincible. They have a high-powered offense and everyone is contributing on defense, making life simpler for goaltender Braden Holtby. Holtby, for his part, is giving a potentially Conn Smythe-worthy performance and has enjoyed a net that has seamingly shrunk to half size for the Knights after Game 1. For my money, the Caps train is going to keep on a rollin’.
