I had this conversation with someone the other day.
If you had to pick 2 defensive players to make the best combo for the Wild all time, who would they be?
Now, obviously Ryan Suter has only been here a short time, but I feel pretty confident in saying that he should be one of these two.
Does a combo of the dynamic Brent Burns and Suter win the day? The crazy offensive skill/risk taking by Burns and the steady all around play and positioning by Suter would work well.
Does Willie Mitchell’s physical play/ defensive responsibility/ badass-ery combined with Suter make the ultimate shut down pair.
Does the potential Jonas Brodin has shown get some merit in this consideration.
What about Greg Zanon? I’ve never been a fan of advanced stats, but I’m assuming the "Stats" would point to a Suter - Greg Zanon combo. With Greg Zanon’s beard blocking every shot on one side and Ryan Suter on the other how could the Wild lose?
What about Wild greats like Kuba, Bombardir, Zidlicky, Johnsson.
and then their is always Cam Barker and Martin Skoula!
Does anyone else remember a time when we were excited about the potential of Cam Barker? Awful.
