The season keeps on creeping closer and closer, and another sure sign that hockey is right around the corner is the NHL’s annual prospect tournament held in Traverse City, Michigan. The Wild released their roster today, including prospects Nico Sturm, Connor Dewar, Dmitry Solokov, Ivan Lodnia, Will Bitten and Mat Robson. Also appearing will be 2019 draft picks Adam Beckman, Matvey Guskov and Hunter Jones.
One name that unfortunately will not be making the trip is Alexander Khovanov, Minnesota’s third-round selection in the 2018 draft. Khovanov underwent surgery to remove a benign bone tumor from his left leg last Friday, August 23. The surgery was successful, but Khovanov is scheduled to miss four-to-six weeks.
The prospects that will make the trip (check out the roster here) will be competing in the Ted Lindsay division, which also include teams of prospects from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars and New York Rangers. The Gordie Howe division teams consist of the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs.
The tournament will run from September 6th through the 10th.
