The Wild will be without their Kaptain for the rest of the season.
Mikko Koivu will have surgery on his right knee to repair a torn ACL and mensicus and will miss the rest of the season. The short-term replacement is likely to be Joel Eriksson-Ek, but GM Paul Fenton will have a little more than two weeks to decide if he will make moves to strengthen the roster for a playoff push, or whether Minnesota will be sellers at the deadline.
Speaking of the NHL trade market, things are continuing to heat up as the Nashville Predators acquired center Bryan Boyle in a trade with the Devils. Lots of speculation abounds as to whether this domino will trigger more action.
