Well, lady luck has smiled on the Wild.
Not really. The Wild were out-shooting the Stars 22-12 halfway through the third period and the Wild were up 4-2; the Wild had done a great job of suppressing shots, and would continue for the rest of the period. After an opening frame that was, for the first part, all we had expected, the Wild turned the game around.
Kurtis Gabriel played about 7 minutes of ice time, just about his only contribution to the scoresheet. Rousell was able to goad the Wild into a few penalties; as expected KG's presence did little to deter him from his antics. The Wild did a great job of suppressing shots and creating chances for themselves, all of which had to do with overall good play as opposed to one player making the difference.
Nino Niederreiter, Erik Haula, and Jason Pominville were the Wild's best line, the only line to create offensive pressure early in the game; lo and behold 2 of them scored.
