The Minnesota Wild had its share of nice little streaks during the Mike Yeo era, and on a few occasions, the Wild did just enough to get the more "national" media outlets to start paying attention to them. Well, the moment you see a Pierre Lebrun or an EJ Hradek walk in the door at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday, please notify the Wild to run and hide, because whenever esteemed writers such as these have started to make the Wild into a story in the past, the Wild has quickly collapsed. Minnesota has mostly been flying under the radar throughout the course of this entire 12-game streak, largely shielded by the even more impressive Columbus streak, as the Blue Jackets have been getting most of the "small market" attention. While I’d love to keep it that way, the 12-game streakers against the 14-game streakers is one of the best stories of the NHL season so far, so there will no doubt be a lot of eyes on St. Paul this Saturday. It’s been interesting to listen to a few of the NHL-centric podcasts out there over the past week, as many of them have been talking about the Wild. However, the general consensus on these shows has been that the Wild is a hot team right now that will fall off eventually and is completely overachieving. Perfect! If you’re going to start talking about the Minnesota, please, at the very least, continue to poo-poo the Wild as a contender. Here’s hoping that Bruce Boudreau can somehow extend the streak Saturday, yet somehow trick the media into thinking that the Blue Jackets won, so that they still don’t pay attention to us. In the interim, please press play below, and listen carefully to Fred Durst’s very fitting lyrics to help you understand what the Wild looks to do moving forward.
