There isn’t a lot of news today, but what there is is big. Scott Stevens has announced that he will be stepping down as the assistant coach so he can spend more time with his family. While totally respecting his decision, it is easy to imagine the disappointment of Chuck Fletcher and Bruce Boudreau. Stevens’ brief tenure in charge of the Minnesota Wild’s defense saw every defensemen on the team make improvements in at least one aspect of their game. Many fans were counting on Stevens continuing to guide the Wild’s deep blueline to take the step from excellent to truly elite. No news on who may replace him at this early stage.
