The Wild ended the game with 41 shots in an arena that is known to be pretty stingy when it comes to rewarding shots on goal. Overall, this was a game that makes fans shake their heads and wonder how exactly the Wild managed to walk away without 2pts.
However, Columbus ended up coming out as the overall winner with Coyle being given a fighting major along with a match penalty and was sent to the showers. GM Chuck Fletcher was absolutely livid, and it's entirely possible that the fans in the lower bowl could hear his displeasure with the call.
The second period started off with an appearance from the team who had been impersonating the Wild for the last few games. Horrible play over all, they were unable to clear the zone with guys just standing around, and suddenly the Wild were down 2-1.
Even though the Wild continued to be in control of the puck for the rest of the 2nd, they were marred with horrible mistakes. The end of the 2nd ended up with the Wild taking a penalty for too many men on the ice, because of course they did.
He also talked about Coyle's hit on Anisimov and said "The way I see it, it was a great hit and we should be on the power play." Both Yeo and Fletcher said it was a clean hit. Hopefully Brendan Shanahan sees it the same way.
The Wild take on Calgary next with a game on Monday night. The game is in Calgary and will be on at 8pm CST.
