  • Wild unveil gorgeous ‘Reverse Retro’ jerseys

    Guest

We all knew it was coming. Weeks of rumors piling high, wondering what design the Minnesota Wild and the 30 other NHL franchises will release prior to the start of the 2020-21 regular season.

The Athletic’s Michael Russo let is slip that the Wild will be taking some inspiration from the North Stars, but we did not expect this all-in approach to the former Minnesotan franchise.

Green and gold everywhere. These look simply fantastic and will be seen all over the State of Hockey in the coming months.

“We are thrilled that our Reverse Retro adidas jersey honors Minnesota’s first NHL team, the North Stars. While we’ve worked hard to build a distinct brand for the Wild, we have always looked for creative and appropriate ways to recognize the North Stars’ history in the State of Hockey,” said John Maher, Senior Brand Advisor in the team’s release. “We understand that many of our fans’ first NHL experience was cheering on the green and gold. These Reverse Retro games will be a fun accompaniment to the coming season.”

Fans are now able to pre-order the new jerseys at hockeylodge.com and at both Wild store locations, at Xcel Energy Center and Southdale Mall.

At first, the prediction was that the Wild would be going with the gigantic stylized letter “M” in the middle, similar to the logo we saw on the helmets during the 2016 Stadium Series. But I am personally so glad that they stuck with the current logo and just changed the overall design and colors of the jersey.

In the 20 years of the Wild franchise, they have stuck with a similar color palette. Keeping the tradition of muted tones with the forest green and maroon, mixed in with a somewhat off-white accent. Bachelor of Fine Arts background aside, this is a complete U-turn from what we’ve come to expect. A bright, vivacious and vibrant jersey will be on the backs of Wild players for a few games next season.

Oh boy, just let me have it.
