It’s looking like defenseman Greg Pateryn is pretty close to returning to the Minnesota Wild.
The Wild announced Monday evening that Pateryn, who has missed all of Minnesota’s 27 regular-season games, has been assigned to the AHL’s Iowa Wild on a conditioning stint. The veteran blueliner underwent successful bilateral core muscle repair surgery just before the start of the 2019-20 campaign.
Pateryn, 29, played in 80 games for the Wild last year, collecting a total of one goal and seven points. Only three players, Ryan Suter, Jared Spurgeon and Jonas Brodin, received more ice time than Pateryn last season.
It’s unclear when Pateryn will play his first NHL game of the season, but the Iowa Wild will be in action Wednesday against the San Antonio Rampage, Friday against the Milwaukee Admirals and Saturday against the Tucson Roadrunners.
