Hey I just realized I missed the last Wild preseason game on this blog – sorry hockey fans! I didn’t get to go to the game, but here’s my quick game review.
Word on the street is that last Sunday’s final preseason game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Minnesota Wild was a real boxing match and proof that the long standing rivalry between Minnesota hockey and the Chicago Blackhawks is still going strong. Of course, Minnesota's Derek Boogaard got into one of the fights of the night when he fought David Koci early in the second period. Boogie definitely knows how to throw a good punch and he is living up to his reputation of the Wild’s Enforcer even in the preseason. Wild's Dominic Moore isn’t shy either as he took the gloves off to beat on the Blackhawks Martin Lapointe late in the third.
The Wild ultimately came out on top mainly thanks to three goals by Brent Burns (another hat trick for the Wild and the year has just begun). Also scoring for the Wild was Mikko Koivu in the first and Pavol Demitra added an empty-netter at the end. If this game was any indication of how the opener was going to look, I can’t wait for the puck to drop!
