The Minnesota defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets in grand style Saturday night which is more than I can say for the Gophers hockey team who tied UND Fighting Sioux (donning their black and green jerseys – the two guys in front of me were wearing the all green Sioux jerseys and it almost made me puke) in a scrappy game at Mariucci Arena.
The Wild game wasn’t on TV and to be honest I didn’t see too many news highlights either because I forgot to TiVo, but I see Kurtis Foster scored for the Wild, Brian Rolston tipped one in and Marian Gaborik scored two goals, rocketing the Wild to a 4-1 victory over the ailing Blue Jackets.
I love this quote from Wild head coach Jacques Lemaire after the game – he sounds pretty confident in this Wild team and this is the exact time when you need to have confidence and execution to ride mighty mo’ into the playoffs.
Next up for the Wild will be a tough match-up on the home ice on Tuesday February 5th. The Wild will host the Detroit Red Wings and you can bet the Wings hope to embarrass the Wild on their ice as retribution for the beating the Wild gave them in January. Let’s go Wild!
