  • Wild activate Joel Eriksson Ek from IR, reassign Luke Johnson to AHL

    Guest

Help is on the way for the Minnesota Wild.

The team announced Sunday that forward Joel Eriksson Ek, who has been inactive since December 14, has been activated from injured reserve. Eriksson Ek will be available to play in Monday’s Festivus tilt against the Calgary Flames.

Through 30 games, Eriksson Ek has posted a pair of goals and 10 assists for 12 points on the season.

To make room for Eriksson Ek on the roster, the Wild sent forward Luke Johnson to the AHL’s Iowa Wild. In his three appearances with the Wild this month, Johnson registered zero points and had a minus-3 rating.

The return of Eriksson Ek is certainly great news for the Wild. Minnesota was hurting at center during his absence, especially with captain Mikko Koivu also out of the lineup. With Eriksson Ek back in action, one would imagine he will soon be reunited with Jordan Greenway and Luke Kunin on the third line to bring the GEEK Squad back together.
