Sports do not exist for the time being, so we’re sharing what we’re doing to pass the time until they return! Each day, we will talk about our favorite TV show, movies, music and video games. We’re doing this for two reasons — because we’re bored and have nothing to write about, but also so we can potentially introduce you to something cool to keep yourself busy!
These are surely some uncharted times, and ones where uncertainty is all around the corner. The COVID-19 pandemic has swept the nation, and no matter your personal feelings, it is a pretty serious thing when we see the vast array of cancellations and postponements on such a large scale.
The sports world is no stranger to this as many professional, college and even high school leagues have come to a halt for the foreseeable future. Now with no sports to watch, times have gotten real tough for sports fans, and especially for this one.
But, hey, life goes on, and now I’ll have to find other things to do to pass the time. Other than all classes at Longwood University being fully online for the next two weeks, I will now turn my attention to binge watching the Virginia Cavaliers “One Shining Moment” video from their victory after the 2019 National Championship game over the Red Raiders from Texas Tech, from dusk until dawn.
In my mind, Tony Bennett is the “Houdini” of college basketball currently, and the job he has done with the ‘Hoos has been nothing short of amazing. It may not be the flashiest style of basketball, but it gets the job done! Go ahead, though, flatter me with the UMBC jokes. The response to come back the next season and win it all was one of the greatest stories in the history of sports. It’s heartbreaking that the team won’t be able to defend their crown this year, though.
As a native of Concord, which is about two hours away from Charlottesville, I have been a Cavalier fan for life and I absolutely love re-living the program’s “One Shining Moment”. You can bet I will do a ton of that while mourning the loss of the big dance, this season.
