  • What Do You Do With Two Hot Goalies? (Podcast)

    Luke Sims

The Wild and their goalies are on fire, 9-0-2 in their last 11. So that begs the question of what the Wild do with Jesper Wallstedt and Filip Gustavsson. Do the Wild trade Gus? Ride Wallstedt? Give Wally more games? Keep them even?

I think Gus plays his best when he isn't over used.  A 50/50 split for Gus will likely get you the best version of Gus.

Wally is on fire.  Currently he is the better goalie.. and that isn't a kick on Gus.  If an option to trade Gus pops up and it is for a top 6 legit player... I think you go for it.  Walk away from any bottom 6 trades.  We are looking for a winger that drops in and produces on the 2nd line next to Ek.

If the trade doesn't materialize I would be okay running two really good keepers out there for the rest of the season.  Sitting still would be just fine.  Ignore teams that want to be greedy in the trade.

Cal Peterson is a veteran with NHL experience that played well in pre-season and would be a viable goalie with Wally taking the lions share.

Speaking about hot goalies.  Wallstedt had one hell of a game last night against Edmonton.  I would like to say our D-Structure was a big reason why we won.  But Edmonton got passed it quite a few times and had premium chances.

Wallstedt won that game.  He did everything right.  He challenged shooters and cut off angles.  He moved side to side fast and closed holes quickly.  He stole that game for the Wild.  Really good goalies can do that for you once in a while.  It can raise the whole team to a new level.
