  • Wes Walz takes indefinite leave

    Guest

I wish I knew how to post the "Scooby Dooby Doo Where Are You?" theme song, but I would want to change it to:

Wessy Wessy Walz, Where Are You? We got some work to do now.
Wessy Wessy Walz, Where Are You? We need some help from you now.

It’s true Minnesota Wild veteran player Wes Walz has been on an excused and unexplained absence. He has missed 4 games and the rumor mill is churning with the RETIREMENT word. Assistant general manager Tom Lynn said Monday it's not related to an illness or a family member, so this MN Wild Freak has to ask, what else could it be???

Wes Walz, 37, discussed the possibility of retiring at the end of last season but signed a one-year deal with the Wild over the summer.  I find it odd that he would quit just a dozen games into the season. When he signed the deal, I thought that he was probably hoping to win a Championship with the Minnesota Wild this year . . .I hope he hasn’t given up that idea already. Perhaps the game against Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins was just too much for Walz – perhaps he already pegged the Penguins for the Stanley Cup Champs . . .I hope this absence isn’t anything that a Scooby Snack couldn’t fix!

Think you could write a story like this? Hockey Wilderness wants you to develop your voice, find an audience, and we'll pay you to do it. Just fill out this form.
