While talking about the Minnesota Wild with a customer the other day, I learned an interesting fact about the Wes Walz retirement. Turns out Walz has OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and was having emotional issues dealing with his skates.
In fact, the customer had worked at a sports shop that sharpened Wes Walz skates and had commented to Walz about how old his skates were getting. Apparently, the skates were completely worn out and Walz tried a few other pairs at the beginning of this season, but just couldn’t handle the change. Everyone knows that hockey players can be superstitious, but a pro player like Wes Walz retiring because his skates wore out – wow, he has issues.
