There will be no articles on Hockey Wilderness about the Minnesota Wild today.

We are partaking in the economic blackout of the Twin Cities on January 23.

We are standing in solidarity with our writers, editors, and commenters who are currently under ICE occupation in the Twin Cities.

We are standing in solidarity with our friends who are being brutalized, kidnapped, and tear gassed on our streets. Even under the threat of violence, you are protecting us, and your courage is treasured by us.

We are standing in solidarity with our Somali community, who are being unfairly demonized and unlawfully targeted by ICE and the federal government. You are as Minnesotan as tater tot hot dish, the common loon, and Prince.

We are standing in solidarity with all of our immigrant neighbors, who are being stolen from our community. Your humanity and dignity are non-negotiable.

We are standing in solidarity with all who are mourning the murder of Renee Good. We call for the immediate arrest and prosecution of her murderer, ICE agent Jonathan Ross.

We call on Tim Walz, Jacob Frey, Kaohly Her, the city councils of Minneapolis and St. Paul, and all government officials to take their resistance against the occupation beyond words and into meaningful actions to protect the people you are elected to serve.

We call on the Minnesota Wild to end their silence on ICE’s occupation of the Twin Cities and the murder of Renee Good. We call on the team to inform the fans they are sending to games -- in particular, this weekend's Hockey Day in Minnesota celebration -- of the resources available to keep them safe from harassment and abduction. If we are truly the “Team of 18,001,” then we need you to hop over the boards, drop the gloves, and have our backs.

Hockey Wilderness offers all of our love to the people of occupied Minnesota. We are stronger than those trying to break our spirits, and we are showing it every day.

Think you could write a story like this? Hockey Wilderness wants you to develop your voice, find an audience, and we'll pay you to do it. Just fill out this form.
