With the Stanley Cup Playoffs about to head into the finals, we thought it might be nice to give you all an update on the 3rd Annual Hockey Wilderness Sure Wish We Had Something Better to do With Our Time Stanley Cup Playoff Bracket Challenge. Since you know the 3rd Annual Hockey Wilderness Sure Wish We Had Something Better to do With Our Time Stanley Cup Playoff Bracket Challenge really is the best thing going right now.
Other than the Yelnats Cup. Oh, and the contest we are going to announce tomorrow. (Was that a teaser? Yep. It sure was.)
So, join us after the jump to see who is still in it to win it, and who is already full eliminated from the 3rd Annual Hockey Wilderness Sure Wish We Had Something Better to do With Our Time Stanley Cup Playoff Bracket Challenge.
The Field
This year we had 34 entries, only two of which came from our crack staff of writers. Personally, I just think Nathan was afraid to be embarrassed again this year. You know, if he had any shame in the first place. JS, our first ever champion, did not fare well this season, and our defending champ, Elise, didn't enter. My bracket is out, which means for the first time in the short history of the 3rd Annual Hockey Wilderness Sure Wish We Had Something Better to do With Our Time Stanley Cup Playoff Bracket Challenge, there will be a champion from outside the ranks of the staff.
There was also one submission that came in with no username.
Destination: Loserville
With the Conference Finals in full swing, the field of contestants in the 3rd Annual Hockey Wilderness Sure Wish We Had Something Better to do With Our Time Stanley Cup Playoff Bracket Challenge has been narrowed down. Here is the break down for who is out:
As you will see once we look at who is still alive, these scores are just not going to be enough, even for those with possible outcomes still pending. Gooterbaby and I still have a chance to be royalty of the losers, but with the choices still pending for those alive in the race, we cannot catch them.
Still in the Hunt
These are your final five contestants, folks. Each still has a chance at getting nine correct picks, depending on how the conference finals and finals play out.
There are still a few ways this can play out. With just 69 games having been played, none of our remaining contestants have a chance at getting that particular question correct. Remember, number of games played is the tie breaker. Those on the leader board with the lowest guesses are going to win that.
With the choices of the last three on the board, grumble_grumble is really the only one who has a chance if the Rangers go on to win the Cup. We'll leave the other two on the board, just to give them the satisfaction of being there.
Should be a fun finish to the 3rd Annual Hockey Wilderness Sure Wish We Had Something Better to do With Our Time Stanley Cup Playoff Bracket Challenge. Can't wait to crown the King or Queen of Winning Absolutely Nothing.
Good times.
