  • The Wild beat the St Louis Blues (11/30)

I love a good Friday night hockey game in St Paul! The Minnesota Wild hosted the St Louis Blues tonight and the game was a sweet one.  I was expecting a close match-up and I got it.

The Wild beat the Blues 3-2 with an overtime goal by Marian Gaborik. Gabby got the game winner on Wednesday night, too and he once again is showing why he is such a Wild star. I sat right behind the net in section 110 and as I saw Gaborik heading toward the goal with that look of determination on his face, I screamed out "show us why you make the big bucks Gaborik" and sure enough he shot and scored and the Xcel Arena went wild. Now, I don’t think Gaborik really heard me command him, but I of course took some credit for the victory in front of my buddies.

The first two goals were scored by Brent Burns 10 minutes into the first period and the second goal I practically missed because Brian Rolston slapped it in at the nine-second mark of the second period, it was the fastest goal to start a period in Wild history.  The Blues played tough in the second and chalked up two goals to tie it, the third period showed just how evenly matched the teams really were and neither team could sneak the puck past the pipes. Overtime is so stressful, but Gaborik made it look easy and reminded me that all is well in the state of hockey.
