Let me preface this by saying that I don't have kids. That being said, I don't get it. I don't understand the need for a marketing ploy like this, and I'm in marketing. This isn't a new franchise, it doesn't need to build a fanbase. It isn't having trouble selling tickets or merchandise. This just screams of something the Preds or Thrashers would do.
