The day has come. The Silly Season is upon us. Millions of dollars will be promised to hundreds of players in the NHL. Some of it will be spent wisely, some poorly. Over 530 NHL players are either restricted or unrestricted free agents., yet most "experts" say that this is one of the worst classes of free agents in recent history. We all know who we want the Wild to target. But once Zach Parise and Ryan Suter are off the market, what happens to the rest of the guys? How will Chuck Fletcher and team proceed? Will they go out and grab plan B and plan C players to fill a roster to give the prospects time to develop, or will he throw huge dollars at Parise and Suter in hopes of landing them, then move on if things don't go his way?
Below is the entire list of UFA and RFA players in the NHL. Pay attention, as there are some interesting names in there. We will see to whom the best and worst contracts are given. But, aside from a few guys, I don't see a lot of help.
I may be alone in that thought, but from the last few weeks in comments around here and across Twitter, I don't think I am.
Anyway, setup up your Parise shrines, sacrifice a chicken to Jobu, and let's get it going!
