  • Minnesota Wild vs Winnipeg Jets: Game preview, Start time, TV schedule

    Guest

After a frustrating game against the Dallas Stars Monday night, the Minnesota Wild play the Winnipeg Jets tonight at 6 at the X. The Wild have already played the Jets once this regular season and ended up winning 4-3 in comeback fashion scoring 4 goals in a row with 3 of them in the second period. The Wild were 1-4-0 against a subpar Jets team last season.

    Winnipeg Jets

The Jets prospect pool is massive and they are not a team to sleep on anymore. #2 overall pick Patrik Laine has 18 points (12-6=18) in 22 games good for second most points amongst the team. 2011 #7 overall draft pick Mark Scheifele is off to another great start leading the team with 23 points (11-12=23) in 21 games. Finally, 2014 #9 overall draft pick Nikolaj Ehlers is off to a strong second season in the NHL with 18 points (4-14=18) in 21 games.

Goaltending is still a little concern for some this season with netminders Connor Hellbuyck and Michael Hutchinson playing decently despite Hellebuyck having a 2.62 GAA and Hutchinson having a 3.26 GAA. Our frenemy at Artic Ice Hockey wrote about goaltending with small sample size and not needing to worry about it.

    Injuries

Mathieu Perreault is out with an upper-body injury and hasn’t played since Nov. 3rd.

    Minnesota Wild

The Wild have struggled to score lately which makes it hard to win games or even have a chance at winning. When they are ahead they often start to turtle and blow the lead and can’t come back or lose in overtime. This was the case against the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars and cannot continue tonight. As we all know the Central Division is very skilled and difficult to be successful in. The Wild need every 2 points they can get against divisional teams to help them be successful in the standings. They need to get going soon or it’s going to be another frustrating season to watch for fans.

That’s all for today’s game preview. Gamethread publishes at 5:30 and game time is 6. Here’s the Tale of the Tape:
